Curriculum - CARFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL

Hours spent in teaching -

During a normal school week, including Religious Education but excluding the statutory daily Assembly, registration and breaks, a child at Carfield will receive 22½ hours of teaching in the Keys Stage 1 and 24 hours in the Key Stage 2.

Aims:

By creating an effective learning environment we want our children to be happy to come to school and to recognise, acknowledge and value relationships between all human beings.  Through developing skills, values and attitudes we seek to equip children for their present and future needs.  We plan, record and review the whole curriculum, including the National Curriculum, seeking to help children:

• develop a high standard of literacy and numeracy skills to maximise their potential.
• develop skills of self-assessment to raise their own personal achievement.
• develop creativity through a range of curriculum areas.
• develop a high standard of scientific and ICT skills.
• develop their spiritual and moral values.
